This interview provided a lot of information including almost all the fun facts. He is qualified as expert after visiting the island 3 times with the military and studying the battle and the geography of the island for several years. He lived in neighboring island Okinawa for a period of time, studying the battle in order to help create "friend or foe," which would've been useful during the battle.
